At Timbertherm, we design, restore and enhance timber windows and doors. The majority of our work is with bespoke requests — we’d love to hear any ideas you might have and work with you to deliver a stunning set of timber windows and doors to fit your home.
When it comes to timber windows, we use the best materials and the latest techniques to deliver a set of timber windows of excellent build-quality that are aesthetic, durable and protect your home.
The first step in our end-to-end process is to sit down with you and discuss what you’re looking for. We provide three main types of window — casement, sash and orangeries — and from there, we’ll provide a wealth of options and variations for you to choose from or if you have any requests, we’d love to hear them!
We provide options for the architectural style, frame, colour, security features and much more. All of our windows are thermal-efficient, utilising high performing, Argon gas-filled, double glazed sealed units which means that whatever type of window you go for, you won’t be sacrificing heat loss.
Cambridge contains 17 Conservation areas, each with hundreds of period homes. If you have a period home who’s windows need restoring, we’re experienced in delivering exact restorations using conservation-approved solid engineered timber.
As period houses hold decades’ worth of character, when they need to be restored, it is important to make sure the right materials and techniques are being used. Using drastically different materials (e.g. PVC-u) will result in distorted results and can drastically decrease the period home’s property value.
In cases where complete restoration is not possible – or if you prefer this method instead – we can include enhancements through the use of modern techniques. For example, we can improve the thermal efficiency of your window using specialist glazing using narrow cavity insulating glazing units. In addition to this, we can cause the finish to mimic the appearance of older glazing, maintaining the consistency of your window with the rest of your period house.
